Experience

The Story

Taken by surprise, you were captured and are doomed to work aboard a Chinese ship as it makes the dangerous journey around Cape Horn. The ship has docked for a storm, where you and your crew mates have to beat the tide (and the captain’s puzzles) to escape while at port.

The Room

The Shanghaied room was well made and included some details to make it feel more like a ship than a small room. The props to make it feel like a Chinese vessel felt like an afterthought, but overall the decorations and themed puzzles were well thought out.

The Puzzles

Shanghaied contained a decent range of puzzles. There were some basic puzzles that felt a bit like they had been adjusted after the fact to make them easier (and now may be too easy).

Our only clue was used to solve a puzzle that still makes us think, “Well, I guess I can kind of see why that was the solution”.  That brought down the satisfaction factor for an otherwise rewarding puzzle.

Despite those things, there were more complex puzzles towards the end that balanced out the room and provided a much improved solution satisfaction.
